So what do I mean by that?
Turning those few days off… INTO weeks, and saying:
“it’s ok”… oh, it’s not really quitting, just having some time off”
…then finding yourself a month or so down the track, unmotivated, uninspired and not being able to get back into it again.
It’s when turning, “taking it easy on yourself and over consuming poor nutrition and putting your exercise aside for a week” morphs into “Oh I really just can’t be bothered anymore”…
Pretending you’re not quitting, when you actually are.
So why would you quit on your health, your self-confidence, your well-being, your goals for your fat loss and lean muscle?
When in fact, without your health, your well-being, you wouldn’t be able to do the things you want to do in life.
You know you could do better… but it’s easier not too.
Truth is, it’s really not easier, you’ve just BS-ed yourself about that as well.
If you’re fed up with doing this and want to move forward… then it’s time to make some changes.
So here’s what you can do TODAY to start turning this around…
1. Make your day 80% on track.
If you’re going to be making choices (and they are your choices, so own them) that aren’t supporting your fat loss goals… then make your day, week, month etc… 80% on track.
So you can still be consistent, still give yourself some flexibility, without quitting. This is a lifestyle remember.
2. STOP making excuses for yourself.
Yes you want results, of course you do…
But if you keep throwing the towel in every couple of weeks, every time challenges take place in your life, rather than trying to support your efforts…
(Because let’s face it, deep down you know you could support your fat loss efforts more… you just choose not too… )
You’ll just keep creating that roller coaster lifestyle that got you in the predicament you were in before you started.
Do you really want to keep telling yourself it’s ok to keep throwing a spanner in works every couple of weeks?
You can tell yourself it’s impossible (which it isn’t, you’ve just chosen to make it impossible), or you can stop stuffing about and just get in there and make it happen.
Yes, you will struggle when you first start out… but at some point you have to say “enough is enough”, I deserve to take care of myself better than this.
3. BUT it’s personal…
Exactly! Of course it is… That’s why it’s so vital that you do something about it.
That doesn’t mean it can’t be figured out, it doesn’t mean that you can’t make changes…
And it certainly doesn’t mean you can’t have the lean sexy body or the life you truly want.
4. Don’t be ashamed about the things that are holding you back…
Everyone has stuff that’s holding them back. Identify those things, be proud of yourself for doing so, work on them and keep moving forward.
It’s not about who is the most or least screwed up, in regards to getting results… it’s about you being willing to create something awesome for you, despite the struggles.
5. Look at yourself in the mirror each day and ask yourself, what do you truly want?
Am I helping myself today? And what actions am I going to take today, to help myself achieve the body I know I deserve.
Example..
“I may not be on track today totally with my nutrition, I know I’ve got that b’day dinner, but I’m going to get my workout in. “
Or
“Crap, I’m not going to have time to train tonight, with the b’day bash on… but I’ll make sure I have three to four nutritionally supportive meals / snacks earlier in the day.
6. You are worth it. But do you really believe it?
Example…
“I’ve been doing great, so it won’t hurt, if I just don’t bother for a couple of weeks or so”…
“does it really matter, no one really cares if I get results do they? No one really expects me to succeed, I’m not even sure if I do..”
7. STOP making it all OR nothing!
“Oh if I can’t get my Day 1 workout in today, I may as well just blow the whole week off, because I won’t be able to fit all the workouts in”
“My nutrition is off track this week, so I simply won’t bother putting any effort into my nutrition or training”
Which sounds better to you?
80% effort = 80% results
vs
0% effort = 0% results
8. Know there’s a difference between being kind to yourself and simply BS-ing yourself.
Recognize that point between when you’re “Pretending” to be kind to yourself (using that as a reason to just not bother because you don’t really believe you can do it), when you’re actually self sabotaging… punishing yourself.
Call yourself out on it, when that train of thought kicks in – without being an “asshole” about it.
Hold yourself accountable, encourage yourself, write down what you want, figure out how to get there, what action you’re going to take, and what steps you’re going to take to make it happen.
Care enough about yourself to do that.
9. Believe you can do it
Make the decision to believe in yourself. Rather than choosing not too.
10. Get the support you need… Instead of turning your back on it.
Surround yourself with people that lift you up, encourage your goals, motivate you, your trainer, friends and family, online or local communities.
Make the most of that support.
If you’ve got a trainer at your fingers tips that’s offering you help, take it. Don’t make excuses not to speak with them about what you’re struggling with.
Don’t deny yourself the help you require.
Tell your friends and family that you need them on board.
11. Stop wasting time…There’s no perfect scenario, perfect time, perfect life…
It’s really important that you “get that”.
You can’t blame every struggle, mishap, obstacle that happens in your life for not eating and exercising to support your fat loss goals.
Stuff happens, that’s life, your life, my life, even the people that you think have it “easy”, actually don’t. You just presume that.
Don’t wait for the perfect week, day, month…
If you wait for things to be 100% perfect… you’ll never reach those dream body goals.
12. Be grateful that you’ve got the opportunity to do this.
You can sit back and whinge that it’s unfair, that life is unfair, or be looking back 10 years from now, pissed off with yourself that you were “ungrateful” and didn’t make the most of the time you did have…
13. You always have choices…
You can choose to keep BS-ing yourself, defending your excuses, tell yourself it’s ok to give up, or that you’re just having a bad week, or crappy month, or just a small break from decent nutrition and exercise…
OR
You can choose to take this journey head-on… learn how to deal with those weeks where you feel like you’re struggling and make them way more awesome than you thought you could.
Think about it…
Option A: Crappy, give up, “throw in the towel” week
Option B: You put in 60% to 80% week, come out of it knowing you took action, and being proud of it.
Which do you think would get you closer to your fat loss, lean muscle, dream body results?
Big hugs and luv
