How many times have you heard yourself say…
“WOW, this year I’m going to make it happen! I’m going to transform my body. My legs, shoulders and tummy are going to be toned and sexy. I’m going to look “SIZZLING HOT”! Nothing is going to stop me! I’m going to feel amazing, it’s going to be the best year of my life!”
And then a few hours / days / weeks later you’re thinking…
“what a pile of crap, I’m never going to make this happen. I couldn’t do it last year. Why would it work now? Am I just fooling myself? Is it really possible? Oh, screw it, it’s too hard, I’ll think about it later.”
A couple of attempts throughout the year take place, nothing super committed, and you’re at the same place…
Let’s face it, it’s not always New Years that these thoughts are running through your head – it’s on and off through the year.
And the more disheartened you become, the more frustrating it becomes.
The more things get in the way the more annoyed you get.
The more you see your body getting further away from your goals – the more you feel like you’re wasting your time with this “dream” of having the body you truly want.
So what are you going to do about it?
Or … What can you do about it?
Well here’s the thing… it doesn’t have to all be about doom and gloom or behaving like you’ve been snorting some kind of hyped up motivational drug.
It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
Sure it’s important to be able to pull yourself out of that feeling of like “it’s never going to happen”.
We face those feelings with all kinds of things in life, and with most stuff we just get over it and move on fairly quickly, but when it’s something that’s affecting us deeply or we’re super passionate about it… it feels like it’s more difficult to overcome.
We have this preconception that things can only progress if everything is going well, if everything is perfect.
There’s never a perfect time for anything. We wait for the perfect time to time to start eating healthy, to start exercising…
No one’s life is perfect, so if you’re going to wait for the perfect time… it may never come along.
So let me ask you this…
Are you ok with that?
Are you ok with the continual banter you say to yourself:
“I hate my body”
“I look like crap in this dress”
“There’s no way in hell I’m wearing a swimsuit”
“I’m not going to that party, I’m embarrassed about how out of shape I’ve become”
“Nope, nope, nope I’m not going on a holiday looking like this, I’ll wait til I’m in shape”
“I’d love to have photos taken professionally of my family and myself… but I’m not doing it looking like this, it can wait…”
“If I go to that event, everyone will look amazing, and I will feel nothing but fat and ugly”.
“I really wish I could participate more with my kids sporting commitments / outdoor activities, my kids would love me to be there and play with them, but I’m too unfit and people will make fun of me”.
“I just need to accept that I’m always going to feel and look like crap”
