Yesterday morning I woke up feeling like I was hung-over. And I was, BUT NOT FROM ALCOHOL, but from my treat meal the night before.
Perhaps this is something you struggle with?
…Which is why I’m sharing my own experiences with you today.
I have a treat meal every week. And yes there are times I won’t have any if I simply don’t feel like it. And my treat meals vary in what I have in regards to healthy treats, not so healthy treats, and crap.
Here’s the thing with treat meals… they’re great in that you don’t have to worry about feeling deprived, because you’re not banning yourself from having certain foods.
Because as you know if you tell yourself “no, you can’t have that ever again”, you’re probably going to want it even more, right?
Once you start consuming decent nutrition that supports fat loss and lean muscle, when you do have treat meals your body doesn’t always agree with them.
…It’s your body saying “what the hell did you just feed me?”
For me, especially these days, I’m just not enjoying treat meals that much that include crappier food. And what I probably would’ve wolfed down years ago (and with much larger servings)… The after effects now are yuck!
Side note: I’m experiencing this with alcohol as well. My body really suffers from it – so I keep it to a minimum when I do have it.
And it reminded me of my “When I eat crap, I feel like…” list, that I made a while back…
I’ll share it below with you…
When I eat crap, I feel like… (treat meal hangover),
Feel nauseous
Headache through to thumping migraine
Can’t focus, feel foggy
Feel emotional
Find it hard to get stuff done
Don’t feel inspired
Feel tired, lethargic – like I just want to go lie down or go to bed
As you can see it feels like a full-blown hangover.
I wrote this list because I wanted to be open and honest with myself about how it made me feel.
I also have a ranking of “treat food” that affects me more than others. And obviously at those times when I have a little more than I should, that doesn’t help either.
Side note:
I’ve met so many women (and men too) over the years that consume crap food nearly every meal. And they wonder why they feel like they’re falling apart, feel depressed, mood swings and like there’s no hope for getting into shape.
Ok, back to treat meals…
Can I ask you this?
Maybe you’re wanting to share your own experiences, but don’t feel like you can. Feeling like you need to hide stuff like this.
This isn’t about punishing myself or making myself feel bad for having treat meals. And it’s not about making you feel bad either…
It’s about helping to clarify what makes you feel good, and what makes you feel like crap.
